Mass Spectrometry Center
— our core facility for addressing research challenges through mass spectrometry.

The Mass Spectrometry Centre (MSC) is a Core Facility within the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Vienna and serves as the primary hub for addressing research challenges through mass spectrometry. Operated by a highly experienced team, the MSC offers comprehensive analytical services and research support, utilizing a broad range of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers.
With both technical and thematic versatility, the MSC routinely analyzes a diverse array of substances, including volatile molecules, synthetic organic compounds, metal-organic complexes, natural products derived from microorganisms, plants, and animals, as well as synthetic polymers, biomolecules, and biopolymers.
Members of the faculty can access the services of the MSC in three different ways:
- For simple service measurements, it is sufficient to submit a sample.
- The MSC engages in scientific cooperations to tackle more complex and bigger research projects
- Members of experienced research groups can be trained and authorized to use instruments autonomously.
The MSC also has a research lab, the Mass Spectrometry Centre Laboratory under the lead of Ronald Glabonjat.
